Boxing Day is a day after Christmas Day. It is called "Boxing Day" because - starting in medieval Britain - servants had a day off and would receive a gift box on this day.

Yes I’m curious why are federal employees and bank personal more important then regular blue collar personal. Sounds like a case of discrimination in my eyes. Make it a stat holiday for everyone everywhere! We do not have enough family days together as it is!

Family Day 2020 in Canada Family Day is celebrated on the 3rd Monday of February. In 2020 Family Day is February 17. Family Day is not a national statutory holiday, it is only observed in New Brunswick, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan and in British Columbia. Two other provinces have holidays in February: In PEI Islander Day is celebrated on the 3rd Monday in February and in Manitoba the 3rd Monday in February is the Louis Riel Day holiday.
